WASHINGTON
D.C. -- U.S. Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois says he's joined other
senate leaders in requesting immediate inspections of all offshore oil
operations.
Durbin says the letter sent to President Obama requests enhanced inspections of drilling rigs and production platforms.
The letter follows reports of possible problems on drilling platforms similiar to the one that has caused a catastrophic spill in the Gulf.
It calls for a review of inspection and testing procedures.
