Food Safety
In the wake of a regional E. coli outbreak, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin discussed funding cuts that would hinder the most comprehensive federal food safety reforms in 70 years at Southwestern Illinois College in Granite City on Friday, November 4. The spending cuts approved by the House of Representatives in June would halt or delay key reforms that were part of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act, which was authored by Durbin, passed on a bipartisan basis and signed into law early this year.
