Northern Illinois University
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) visited Northern Illinois University in DeKalb on Aril 7 to call for a stronger federal investment in scientific and biomedical research to preserve America’s role as a global leader in scientific innovation. He met with NIU President Douglas Baker, Fermilab Director Nigel Lockyer, and young researchers to discuss two pieces of legislation, the American Cures Act and the American Innovation Act, which would create a mandatory fund to provide steady, predicable funding for breakthrough research at America’s top research agencies.
