Durbin and Kelly Meet to Discuss Transportation, Economic Development Priorities

[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met with U.S. Representative Robin Kelly (D-IL) to discuss constituent services and economic development priorities in Illinois's 2nd congressional district, including job-creating infrastructure projects and efforts to train and educate workers in advanced manufacturing.

“I am pleased to welcome Congresswoman Kelly to Illinois’ congressional delegation. In her first few weeks in office, Congresswoman Kelly has already proven herself to be a strong voice on issues like enacting common sense gun control legislation and investing in job training and advanced manufacturing programs,” Durbin said. “I look forward to working with Congresswoman Kelly to continue ongoing efforts to create jobs and grow our economy in Illinois and across the country.”

“Senator Durbin has been very gracious in welcoming me into the Illinois delegation. Today’s talk was one of several fruitful discussions we’ve had on the issues in Washington that impact the 2nd District, including gun control, economic development and job creation and transportation and infrastructure,” Kelly said. “Senator Durbin continues to be a great advocate for the people of Illinois and I look forward to working with him to help improve the quality of life for all Illinoisans.”
