Durbin Announces $200,000 for Clay County Hospital
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced $200,000 in federal funding to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs at Clay County Hospital. Today’s funding, awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will support case management for patients with chronic disease, help prepare nurses to effectively assist patients with chronic disease, and teach patients to better manage their conditions. This HHS grant is intended to support health care in medically underserved communities.
“Rural communities in Illinois and across the country face barriers to health care access that put residents at greater risk for chronic and preventable diseases,” said Durbin. “This investment will help ensure that the people of Clay County receive care when they need it, and it will avoid unnecessary and expensive visits to the emergency department.”
