Durbin Announces $20.5 Million for Illinois Community Health Organizations
Funding will increase access to primary care services for at least 46,917 Illinoisans
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a total of $20,516,234 in funding for community health centers throughout Illinois. Today’s funding – made available through the Affordable Care Act – will increase access to health care services for thousands of new patients in Illinois.
“Community health centers are an invaluable resources for families in Illinois, particularly in rural and urban medically underserved areas,” Durbin said. “This funding is will help Illinois community health centers expand the care and critical services they offer for those in need throughout our state.”
Under this announcement, seven Illinois community health organizations were awarded $6,771,132 in funding for infrastructure improvements, including the renovation, expansion, or construction of facilities to increase patient capacity and provide additional, comprehensive primary and preventive health services.
- Asian Human Services Family Health Center, Inc. (Chicago, IL): $771,132 in funding;
- Chicago Family Health Center, Inc. (Chicago, IL): 1,000,000 in funding;
- Lake County (Waukegan, IL): $1,000,000 in funding;
- Crusaders Central Clinic Association (Rockford, IL): $1,000,000 in funding;
- Near North Health Service Corporation (Chicago, IL): $1,000,000 in funding;
- PCC Community Wellness Center (Oak Park, IL): $1,000,000 in funding; and
- VNA Health Care (Aurora, IL): $1,000,000 in funding.
Under this announcement, forty-three community health organizations were also awarded $13,745,102 in funding to increase access to comprehensive primary health care services for 46,917 new patients in Illinois.
