Durbin Announces $6.3 Million in Recovery Act Funding for Greater Peoria Regional Airport
[WASHINGTON, DC] – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $6.3 million in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to construct a new terminal facility at Greater Peoria Regional Airport.
“Construction of a new terminal facility will put Illinoisans to work immediately on a project that will contribute to the long term ability of the Peoria Airport to serve travelers safely and efficiently,” said Durbin. “We will continue to see the benefits of projects like this, funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, for years to come.”
The Greater Peoria Regional Airport is a public airport southwest of Peoria that provides non-stop commercial air service to various locations. Improvements to the airport, while creating a safer and more secure environment for users, will allow for the expansion and creation of jobs throughout the region. This funding will further an essential upgrade of the airport’s infrastructure that will support the Peoria Airport Authority’s effort to serve travelers safely and efficiently while remaining competitive in the region.
