Durbin Announces a Nearly $1.2 Million DOT Recovery Act Grant for Job Training in Illinois
[WASHINGTON,
D.C.] – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) today
announced that the Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a
$1,189,635 On the Job Training/Supportive Services grant to the
Illinois Department of Transportation. Today’s funding will be used to
fund apprenticeships and training centers for Illinoisans pursuing
careers in the transportation, engineering, and construction sectors.
This
funding is part of nearly $12 million in grants announced by the DOT
today. The On the Job Training/Supportive Services grant program
promotes training opportunities for women and minorities who continue
to be underrepresented in some transportation sectors, such as highway
construction, masonry, and carpentry.
