Durbin Announces DOJ Awards To Support Law Enforcement In Illinois
SPRINGFIELD – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced $279,269 in federal funding to support law enforcement efforts across Illinois. Today’s funding, awarded though the Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, will be used to purchase equipment and support personnel costs.
“This grant will help equip our law enforcement officers with the best, most up-to-date tools to do their jobs effectively and keep residents safe,” said Durbin.
Under this announcement, the following cities will receive funding:
· City of Rockford: $180,715 to purchase portable radios;
· City of Aurora: $68,318 to purchase patrol Segways and a firearms training system;
· City of Decatur: $30,236 to support overtime pay for police and corrections officers.
