Durbin Announces More than $15 Million in Recovery Act Funding for Rural Water Projects in Illinois

[WASHINGTON, D.C] – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $15,700,500 in loans and grants funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act for four rural Illinois water system improvement projects. Today’s announcement is part of a nationwide announcement of $159 million in funding for water and environmental projects that will help provide safe drinking water and protect the environment in rural areas while creating construction jobs and the infrastructure needed to support community growth. 

The following entities will receive funding:

  • Fayette Water Company (Herrick), Shelby County: $1,125,000 in loan funding and $1,124,000 in grant funding. 
  • Fayette Water Company (LaClede), Fayette County: $1,000,000 in loan funding and $941,500 in grant funding. 
  • City of Lawrenceville, Lawrence County: $6,040,000 in loan funding.
  • City of Roodhouse, Greene County: $5,470,000 in loan funding.
