Durbin Announces Nearly $500,000 in HUD Funding for Safety and Security
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced that Illinois communities and housing agencies will receive $498,100 in grant funding through the Emergency Safety and Security Program administered by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
“Public housing agencies offer important affordable housing opportunities to residents throughout Illinois. This funding will help ensure that those residents are safe and secure in their homes,” Durbin said.
The Emergency Safety and Security Program provides funding to public housing agencies for safety and security measures, including lighting, security cameras, and video monitoring systems.
The following public housing agencies will receive funding:
- The City of Freeport Housing Authority: $250,000
- The Rockford Housing Authority: $248,100
