Durbin Announces Over $6 Million in HHS Funding for Illinois Community Health Centers
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced that 11 Illinois community health centers will receive $6,497,417 in grant funding through the New Access Point (NAP) grant program, funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In Illinois, NAP grants will help expand access to care for 79,943 additional patients and will create approximately 5,640 jobs nationwide by establishing new health center service delivery sites.
“Community health centers are an invaluable resource for families across Illinois and across the country,” Durbin said. “Today’s funding will support this critically important work and lead to economic growth in many underserved communities where health centers serve as a key source of local employment and economic activity.”
The following community health centers will receive NAP funding:
- Aurora: $489,195 in funding for VNA Health Care
- Bloomington: $595,833 in funding for Chestnut Health Systems
- Chicago: $608,333 in funding for Beloved Community Wellness Center
- Chicago: $595,833 in funding for Centro de Salud Esperanza
- Chicago: $975,000 in funding for Erie Family Health Center, Inc.
- Chicago: $483,003 in funding for The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
- East St. Louis: $431,094 in funding for Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation
- Elgin: $525,000 in funding for Greater Elgin Family Care Center
- Galesburg: $595,833 in funding for Knox County Health Department
- La Grange: $602,460 in funding for Community Nurse Health Association
- Springfield: $595,833 in funding for Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University
