Durbin, Bustos Announced $2.1 Million Investment in Quad City International Airport

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Today, U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos (D-IL) announced $2,142,944 in federal funding for infrastructure improvements and upgrades at Quad City International Airport. The grants were awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration.

“Airports and reliable air service are crucial to the economic success of Illinois communities large and small,” said Durbin.  “If we are going to be a great leader in the world economy, we need an infrastructure to support it. This investment in the Quad City International Airport will allow the airport to continue transporting passengers safely and efficiently.”

“The Quad City International Airport is a vital economic driver and transportation hub for our region,” said Bustos, a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. “Today’s grant will help improve air travel security and serve as a down payment on our region’s long term economic well-being.”

Of the funding announced today, the Metropolitan Airport Authority of Rock Island County has been awarded $1,751,100 to support security projects and enhance safety at Quad City International Airport and $391,844 to remove tree obstructions by the runways.
