Durbin, Duckworth Announce $8.3 Million to Support Youth Workforce Training in Illinois
CHICAGO – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) today announced $8,300,870 for six Illinois organizations and institutions through the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) YouthBuild Program to provide job training and educational services for youth ages 16-24 who left school without a secondary diploma.
“These investments will help provide a lifeline to those who may have fallen through the cracks of our education system, offering them a pathway to success and fulfillment,” said Durbin. “Through targeted job training and educational services, we are equipping these young individuals with the tools and skills necessary to thrive in an ever-evolving workforce.”
“These significant federal investments will help communities across Illinois educate and prepare even more young Illinoisans to enter the workforce and take on good-paying jobs in high-demand industries while also creating more affordable housing throughout the state,” said Duckworth. “These sorts of investments can help change lives and communities for the better, and I’ll keep working to bring additional federal investments like this home to our state.”
