Durbin, Duckworth, Bustos, Loebsack Announce $1.2 Million In DOT Funding for Quad Cities Ferryboat Dock

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), along with U.S. Representatives Cheri Bustos (D-IL-17) and Dave Loebsack (D-IA-02), announced today that Quad Cities MetroLINK will receive $1,200,000 in federal grant funding to replace an old Channel Cat dock in Davenport. The funding was awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Passenger Ferry Grant program. Today’s grant will be used to rebuild Davenport’s Lindsay Park dock.

“I’m pleased that this funding will help Quad Cities residents by replacing the ferryboat dock in Davenport.  MetroLINK serves countless Illinoisans and I will continue fighting for investments in our transportation infrastructure that improves safety and leads to economic growth,” Durbin said.

“This federal investments will enable MetroLINK to maintain this critical connection for the Quad Cities and ensure passengers have access to transportation that’s ADA accessible,” Duckworth said. “I’m proud to advocate for critical infrastructure improvements in Illinois and I’ll continue working with Senator Durbin, Congresswoman Bustos and Congressman Loebsack to help bring our communities the funding they deserve.”

“Investment in our local infrastructure promotes economic opportunity for our region,” Bustos said. “These federal dollars will help folks safely take advantage of one of the features that makes the Quad Cities so unique – travel along the Mississippi River. I’ll continue to work with Senators Durbin and Duckworth to make Illinois a great place to live, work and raise a family.”

“I am pleased that Davenport has received this important funding to make improvements to the infrastructure in the region and make travel along the Mississippi River easier. I will continue to work with my colleagues to ensure that Davenport and the Quad Cities are an economic hub for the region,” Loebsack said.
