Durbin, Graham Announce Subcommittees And Subcommittee Chairs & Ranking Members Of Senate Judiciary Committee
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today announced the establishment of the Subcommittees of the Senate Judiciary Committee for the 118thCongress, and the assignment of Chairs, Ranking Members, and members to these Subcommittees.
“During the 117th Congress, the Judiciary Committee held 41 subcommittee hearings on issues important to Americans—strengthening antitrust enforcement, reforming our broken immigration system, ending the gun violence epidemic, cracking down on big tech, making our criminal justice system fairer, and more—thanks to the leadership and vision of our Subcommittee Chairs,” Durbin said. “I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in the 118th Congress.”
“I look forward to assuming the role of Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. I appreciate the good and hard work of my predecessor Senator Grassley. I will do my best to work with Republicans and Democrats, and find common ground on issues like social media reform. I am hoping the committee will engage in meaningful oversight of a broken border and we can move forward regarding solutions. I will also appropriately challenge unqualified judicial nominees and vigorously defend the blue slip process for district court judges,” said Graham. “Divided government presents its challenges, but also opportunities.”
