Durbin Launches New Website, Joins Facebook and Twitter
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] – Assistant Senate Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced that he has officially launched a modern and easy-to-use website to improve communications with his constituents. The completely redesigned website, https://www.durbin.senate.gov, will provide Illinoisans with quick access to an enlarged library of videos, photos, information, and legislation as well as offer the ability to easily share content with friends and family.
“People across Illinois, the country, and the globe are using the internet to improve their lives in ways that were not possible—or even imaginable—just a few years ago,” said Durbin. “I’m happy to offer my constituents a revamped, modern, and user-friendly website along with new ways of getting in touch. I look forward to hearing from Illinoisans through these new mediums.”
Durbin’s first website launched in 1999, and received less than 1,000 visits each month. In February, the website received nearly 110,000 visits and more than 40,000 visits from users with high-speed access. As more and more Illinoisans adopt high-speed broadband and expect more from the sites they visit, having a well-organized, easy-to-navigate website is important.
Durbin also announced today that he has joined Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr to give Illinoisans more options for keeping in touch with their Senator, learn about his positions, and provide a more open and transparent communication process.
