Durbin helped secure Koos’ nomination to the Amtrak Board of Directors
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met with Normal, Illinois, Mayor Chris Koos during his visit to Washington for his nomination hearing, in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, for the Amtrak Board of Directors. As a result of Durbin’s recommendation, President Biden nominated Mayor Koos to the Amtrak Board earlier this year.
“Mayor Koos has long been a powerful voice in Illinois’ transportation industry. He understands the importance of passenger rail to communities in our state, in the Midwest, and across the country. I’m glad to see that President Biden took my recommendation to nominate Mayor Koos for the Amtrak Board of Directors. I hope to see Mayor Koos confirmed quickly so that we can continue to work together to grow and protect Amtrak’s national network,” said Durbin.
