Durbin Meets With Illinois Farm Bureau Members
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today met virtually with Illinois Farm Bureau members. During the meeting, Durbin discussed agriculture priorities for Illinois’ farmers, including the importance of enacting strong infrastructure investments like rural broadband, improving ethanol production, and strengthening the role of immigrant farmworkers in the agriculture sector. Durbin also listened to the Farm Bureau’s concerns about proposals related to tax policy and inherited farmland and small businesses.
“This is a busy time of year for farmers, so I always appreciate members of the Illinois Farm Bureau taking the time to share their perspectives on federal policies that make our agriculture operations stronger,” said Durbin. “I always look forward to hearing from members of the Illinois Farm Bureau and local farmers about how we can set them and their families up for success.”
