Durbin Meets With MidAmerica Airport Director
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today met with MidAmerica St. Louis Airport Director Darren James to discuss federal funding for the airport as Congress considers appropriations funding for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25). During their meeting, Durbin and Director James spoke about the airport’s current projects, including a terminal apron expansion.
“MidAmerica Airport keeps Metro East residents connected to travel destinations around the country. In speaking with Director Darren James today, I underscored the importance of ensuring our state’s regional airports, including MidAmerica, have the resources to meet customers’ needs and to thrive,” said Durbin.
In September, Durbin and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) announced a $3.5 million grant through the Airport Improvement Program for Scott Air Force Base and MidAmerica Airport for terminal apron expansions. In the Fiscal Year 2024 appropriations bill, Durbin secured a $2.5 million earmark for MidAmerica Airport’s terminal apron expansion to help accommodate three new aircraft parking positions.
