Durbin Meets With Normal Mayor Chris Koos
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) met with Normal, Illinois, Mayor Chris Koos today to discuss transportation priorities in Central Illinois and the importance of investing in our nation’s infrastructure. Durbin discussed Amazon’s plans to buy 100,000 electric delivery vans from the Rivian plant in Normal, and progress on the Normal Underpass project to improve safety and help establish a better connection between Uptown Normal and homes on the south side of the railroad tracks. Normal recently applied for federal BUILD and CRISI grants to fund the final design of the Normal Underpass, and Durbin sent a letter of support with U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Representatives Rodney Davis (R-IL-13) and Darin LaHood (R-IL-18).
“It was good to see Mayor Koos today in Washington to discuss ongoing local infrastructure projects in Normal and across Central Illinois,” Durbin said. “I will continue fighting for federal investments to improve infrastructure in Normal and expand economic growth in the region.”
