Durbin Meets with the League of Conservation Voters
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today met virtually with the League of Conservation Voters to discuss environmental protection and climate change priorities. Durbin and the group discussed key land and water conservation priorities, centering equity and justice in environmental work, and the importance of confirming a diverse set of judges who respect science. Durbin also discussed the importance of Senate Judiciary Committee oversight of Department of Justice enforcement to hold polluters accountable.
“I will always push for stronger environmental and climate protections so we can pass on a livable planet to our kids and grandkids. Protecting the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the public lands we enjoy is a top priority for Senate Democrats. I will work alongside groups like the League of Conservation Voters to strengthen environmental protection laws and propose strategies that reduce carbon emissions and pollution,” Durbin said.
