Durbin Meets With Vice President Harris, DACA Recipients, And TPS Holders
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and lead sponsor of the Dream Act, met with Vice President Kamala Harris, Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ), and a group of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipients and Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders to mark the 9th anniversary of the announcement of DACA and underscore the need for Congress to pass the Dream and Promise Act. The DACA recipients and TPS holders were all immigrant women who currently work in a variety of essential jobs. Durbin thanked the group for their tireless sacrifices and pledged to continue to do everything in his power to pass the American Dream and Promise Act.
“It was an honor to meet with this group of incredible women and hear their remarkable stories of sacrifice and courage,” said Durbin. “Congress cannot make any more excuses for failing to provide Dreamers and TPS holders a pathway to citizenship. These essential workers should not have to fear for their future in the country that they call home and work to make better every single day.”
