Durbin Sits Down With Illinois Corn Growers
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), a member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, today met with the Illinois Corn Growers to discuss Illinois agricultural priorities. During their meeting, Durbin and the members of the Illinois Corn Growers spoke about the price downturns in the farming sector and the multiple economic uncertainties resulting from current federal actions, including the Trump Administration’s tariff policies, the delayed Farm Bill, the need for permanent E15 biofuel blends, the current federal funding risks to lock and dam construction, and the need to address federal crop insurance premiums for low-loss states like Illinois compared to southern states that experience year-over-year crop losses and claims.
“Today, I hosted the Illinois Corn Growers in my office in Washington to discuss the realities of the Trump Administration’s actions on farm economics in Illinois,” said Durbin. “I will continue to press forward on issues important to Illinois agriculture.”
