Durbin Speaks With Nominee For U.S. Army's Assistant Secretary For Acquisition, Logistics, And Technology
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today spoke by phone with Doug Bush, who has been nominated by President Biden to be the U.S. Army’s Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology (ALT). During their conversation, Durbin received an update on the Army’s Make/Buy Guidance, which helps boost work for arsenals across the country, and how the program is helping inform equipment purchasing. Durbin also encouraged Bush to utilize the Rock Island Arsenal to its fullest manufacturing capabilities as the Advanced Manufacturing Center for Excellence has proven to be a valuable asset during the pandemic response effort and beyond.
“I take tremendous pride in knowing that the Army does some of its best work at Rock Island Arsenal. As we consider who will lead Army purchasing, I hope we can make strides in streamlining make/buy guidance to boost work at arsenals nationwide and see significant investment in Illinois’ own capable service members and civilian employees at Rock Island,” said Durbin. “I think Bush is up to the challenge.”
