Korean American Association of Chicago President Julie Choi joins Durbin as his guest

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) released the following statement after today’s Joint Session of Congress with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol.  Following the Joint Session of Congress, Durbin met with his guest, Julie Eunju Choi, the 35th President of the Korean American Association of Chicago.

“Today’s Joint Session of Congress is a reminder of the importance of reaffirming our critical international relationships that have been at the forefront of President Biden’s first term.  Some years ago, I had the privilege of visiting South Korea and the thousands of U.S. servicemembers stationed there to help keep the peace amid continued North Korean belligerence,” said Durbin. “It was also an honor to welcome my guest, Julie Choi, President of the Korean American Association of Chicago, to the U.S. Capitol.  Julie is a leader in the Chicagoland area and an active member of the Korean American community.  She has made our city a more vibrant place and I look forward to our continued discussions to help our Korean American Illinoisans.”
