Durbin Statement On Confirmation Of Postal Board Of Governors Nominees

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today released the following statement regarding the confirmation of U.S. Postal Board of Governors nominees Ronald Stroman and Amber McReynolds:

“With Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s irresponsible leadership impacting vital postal service, it’s more important than ever that the Postal Board of Governors serve as a check on DeJoy’s actions. I’m confident in the abilities and qualifications of Ronald Stroman and Amber McReynolds to help restore USPS’ reputation as a reliable and essential service.”

Ronald Stroman, former Deputy Postmaster General, will serve on the USPS Board of Governors for a term expiring December 8, 2021, and a second term expiring December 8, 2028. He was confirmed with a vote of 69-21 for his first term and with a vote of 67-32 for his second term.

Amber McReynolds, former CEO of the National Vote at Home Institute, will serve on the USPS Board of Governors for a term expiring December 8, 2026. She was confirmed with a vote of 59-38.

Durbin met with the nominees last month ahead of their confirmation.
