Durbin Statement on Passage of "Minibus" of Six Government Funding Bills
WASHINGTON – U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, released the following statement after the Senate passed six funding bills, known as a “minibus,” for Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA, and Related Agencies; Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies; Energy and Water Development; Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies; Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies; and Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies for Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24):
“After months of negotiations and political games by House Republicans, this ‘minibus’ spending package is a testament to the progress Democrats have made in the last year. This bill, which advanced the Senate on a strong bipartisan basis, makes critical investments in public health, research, infrastructure, public safety and violence prevention, the environment, and more. Now that the package has passed both the Senate and the House, I look forward to the President signing it into law as soon as possible.
“Now, Congress must complete its work on the remaining six bills before the March 22 deadline in a bipartisan manner.”
