Durbin Statement On President's Budget
[WASHINGTON, D.C.] - U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) today made the following statement after reviewing President Obama’s FY2016 Budget proposal.
“A strong middle class is the best foundation for a strong economy and President Obama’s budget proposal makes clear that investing in the middle class is his top priority. Middle class families are squeezed as wages have not kept up with the rising cost of food, housing and other necessities. Meanwhile, corporations and the wealthy avoid paying their fair share because of our broken tax system. That’s kept us from investing in our failing infrastructure and expanding education opportunities—the very things we need to compete in the 21st century. The President’s plan would fix this rigged system and expand opportunities for all Americans.”
