Durbin Statement On Texas Immigration Ruling

WASHINGTON—U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) released the following statement regarding the decision of a U.S. District Judge in Texas in the case of the State of Texas v. United States of America:

The Republicans in Congress who are hell-bent on deporting millions of children and their families should not be celebrating this ruling by one outspoken anti-immigration judge in Texas. The Supreme Court has been clear that Presidents have the authority to set federal immigration enforcement priorities, as President Obama has by expanding DACA and establishing DAPA. This ruling is wrong and will temporarily halt these critical pro-family programs, but legal precedent is on our side and I’m confident that it will be overturned so these modest reforms to our broken system can move forward.
