Durbin, Wicker, Senators Meet With Speaker Of the Parliament Of Ukraine During NATO Summit Week
WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Senator Roger Wicker (R-MS), Co-Chairs of the Senate Ukraine Caucus, hosted Ruslan Stefanchuk, Speaker of the Parliament of Ukraine, to discuss continued Congressional support for Ukraine. This week, the United States is hosting the NATO Summit in Washington, D.C., where Heads of State and Government of NATO member countries will discuss important issues facing the Alliance and provide strategic direction for its activities. In addition to Durbin and Wicker, U.S. Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Michael Bennet (D-CO), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) also attended.
“More than two years after Putin began his brutal, criminal invasion, Ukraine remains on the frontlines of democracy. While I’m pleased Congress came together to pass a vital aid package to help our Ukrainian allies a few months ago, we must continue to push for the resources and equipment necessary to prevail against Russian tyranny,” said Durbin. “During today’s meeting, Speaker Stefanchuk reiterated how important U.S. support is and how crucial the NATO Alliance is at this moment.”

In April, Congress passed the national security supplemental, which provided critical aid for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, and Taiwan.
