Senate Confirms Rachel Bloomekatz To The U.S. Court Of Appeals For The Sixth Circuit
Under the leadership of Chair Durbin, the Senate has confirmed 140 judges to lifetime appointments on the federal bench during the Biden administration
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate confirmed Rachel Bloomekatz to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, released the following statement regarding Ms. Bloomekatz’s confirmation:
“Rachel Bloomekatz is an accomplished appellate litigator. She’s proven herself to be a zealous and effective advocate for equal justice under the law, including by defending access to the ballot box, environmental protections, consumer rights, and protections against cruel punishments. She will be an outstanding addition to the Sixth Circuit.
“I congratulate Ms. Bloomekatz on becoming the thirty-sixth Circuit Court judge confirmed under President Biden, and the latest example of the Senate Judiciary Committee advancing nominees who will ensure a fair justice system for all and who represent the diversity of America.”
On February 9, 2023, Ms. Bloomekatz advanced out of the Judiciary Committee with a vote of 11-10.
Today’s confirmation continues the Committee’s work filling judicial vacancies with highly qualified, diverse candidates who help ensure the fair and impartial administration of the American justice system.
