Senate Judiciary Committee Advances Six Nominations to the Full Senate
WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee advanced six nominations to the full Senate, continuing the Committee’s work to bring balance to the federal judiciary. The nominations advanced include four judicial nominees and two U.S. Marshal nominees.
“We’ve reported over 200 lifetime judicial nominations to the full Senate, and we’re quickly approaching 200 judicial confirmations under President Biden. Today’s votes continue our effort to bring balance to the federal judiciary by advancing highly qualified, diverse nominees to judicial vacancies. I’ll continue encouraging my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to conduct good-faith collaboration with the White House to identify and advance nominees to these lifetime posts critical to our justice system,” said U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL), Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Following today’s meeting, the Senate Judiciary Committee has reported 205 Article III judges to the full Senate under the leadership of Chair Durbin. Now, nine lifetime judges – including two circuit court nominees and seven district court nominees – are eligible for a vote on the Senate floor.
The following nominations were reported by the indicated vote totals:
- Sanket Jayshukh Bulsara, to be United States District Judge forthe Eastern District of New York: 12-9
- Dena M. Coggins, to be United States District Judge for the Eastern District of California: 12-9
- Eric C. Schulte, to be United States District Judge for the District of South Dakota: 12-9
- Camela C. Theeler, to be United States District Judge for the District of South Dakota: 20-1
- David O. Barnett, to be United States Marshal for the District of New Mexico: 12-9
- Clinton J. Fuchs, to be United States Marshal for the District of Maryland: 13-8
